Over the coming months, NZSTA will be working with unions, Ministry of Education, and other stakeholders on the collective bargaining process for 11 of the 12 collective agreements set to expire in 2022.
Because we work with boards and principals, NZSTA is well-positioned to represent your views and influence the terms and conditions on offer.
We encourage you to think about collective bargaining and its impact across the sector, and to then provide a submission or speak with your NZSTA advisor to ensure your views are heard. As employers of all staff, boards will ultimately administer the agreements, so it’s vitally important that you are able to share your views and influence the outcomes and agreements.
The first collective bargaining process is for Non-teaching (or Support Staff) Agreements. Roles covered in this round of bargaining are:
- Support Staff in Schools
- Adult and Community Education Staff in Schools
- Kaiārahi i te Reo, Therapists, ATSSD, Special Education Assistants
- School Caretakers, Cleaners and Canteen Staff
- Secondary and Area School Ground staff
We encourage you to consider these roles in your school’s context, and to let us know your thoughts on pay and conditions, any suggested improvements or any issues faced by this sector of your workforce.
