Education matters to me

The initial report Education matters to me: Key insights summarises responses from over 1500 children and young people to questions about what is important to them about their education, and what being at school is like for them.

The six follow-up detail reports present findings in the six areas of inquiry identified by the research team at the beginning of the project. The reports share insights from children and young people in primary and secondary schools, alternative education units, early childhood centres, kōhanga reo, kura kaupapa Māori, learning support units, home-based schools and teen parent units.

The reports are designed to inform public consultation this year when the Statement of National Education and Learning Priorities established under last year’s Education Act Update is being developed.
